Ta Ra Rum Pum - Review

The superhit Hum Tum jodi of Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee is back again to steal your hearts and blow you away!

Siddharth Anand, the director who left us humming ‘my dil goes mmmm’ returns in the hotseat, this time with a whole new look for his movie – from car races to dances in the rough alleys of New York, the director takes the viewers on a heartfelt cinematic journey of joy, faith, happiness, unity, love and family.

Raat hai to savera bhi ho ga (there is night, so there will also be day)

The above quote, taken from the title song sums up the vision of Ta Ra Rum Pum, and especially the core belief that lies within the hearts of the loving parents, Saif and Rani, or otherwise known to the audience as RV and Shona.

Ta Ra Rum Pum tells the story of a young family, who are living in New York enjoying the bounties of a great lifestyle. They are ordinary people, full of love, life and laughter. The first half tells the story of how Saif and Rani meet; how Saif goes from zero to hero in the world of car racing, til one day… one moment, which changes their life forever.

The second half of the movie is extremely gripping and emotional. You see Rani’s character mature from a wife to a mother. Ta Ra Rum Pum talks about a struggling couple, and how they sacrifice everything that they have just so they can see a smile on their childrens faces.

Maybe I am not in a position to say this, but a lot of parents watching Ta Ra Rum Pum can definitely learn from the example set by Saif and Rani – that of having ultimate faith and trust in your partner. If you don’t have this, you may never feel the impact of true love, and how powerful/controlling it can be.

The ever so slick and cool Saif Ali Khan delivers a highly likeable performance – first rate! In the first half you see the Saif that we all know, but in the second half his character takes a turn. In the words of Shona, ‘He is the best husband, best father and the best racer…’ and let me add, he is one of the finest actors Bollywood has today. It is the kids who are the catalysts in the emotional portions of the movie, with Rani Mukherjee leading the way. The queen of bollywood never steps a foot wrong.

Bollywood is certainly going places these days in terms of productivity; above all Yash Raj Films. The car racing scenes were a delight to watch, and of the songs, it was ‘Ab To Forever’ and ‘Saiyaan’ which stood out the most. However, I do feel the movie could have been trimmed by about 10-15 minutes – perhaps by getting rid of the cartoon song.

If you thought Salaam Namaste was a treat, then you’re definitely in for a grand buffet with Ta Ra Rum Pum. It is a throroughly exciting and enjoyable movie – great races to give you that adrenaline rush, a fine story, strong performances, fresh music, new locations and adorable kids – it has everything for the family, don’t miss out on this sweet entertainer!
My Rating: 8/10

Shootout at Lokhandwala

If there is one movie i was to pinpoint as one i am looking forward to over the next few months it has to be Shootout at Lokhandwala *ing, Sanjay Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Suniel Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, Tushar Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Aditya Lakhia, Dia Mirza, Amrita Singh and more.

Sanjay Gupta, producer/director of Kaante and Musafir is back with a bigger, better and more grittier thriller. The mammoth starcast he has roped in for this big venture speaks for itself!

What i'm looking forward to the most is Vivek Oberoi's roughed up role as the gangster. I've always criticised Vivek for taking on lovey dovey roles post-Company, because i strongly believe the gangster/negative role he portrayed in his debut movie Company is the best role he has had to date, and the one he suits the most!

Short 10 second promos of each character are being played on air right now. Of all the brief character snaps, it's Vivek Oberoi's, Amrita Singh's and Shabbir Ahluwalia's trailers that stand out the most. You can watch them on youtube, just click the following link:

Can't wait for this flick!

Adnan Sami Returns!

It is common knowledge within the industry that Adnan has been having weight management problems and depression as a result of it. Over the year Adnan has been under a strict diet/fitness programme and rumours have it that he has lost over 80kg! (see pics below) What matters most now is that he is happy and in love with life yet again. To celebrate this remarkable achievement I am dedicating this specific blog article to him.

Before weight loss:

After weight loss (today):

King Khan is all set to return to the music scene after a lengthy break. 'King Khan' is generally the phrase used to address Shahrukh Khan, but in the world of music, we all know there's only one Khan who reigns above the rest - Adnan Sami Khan!

After the super successful Kabhi To Nazar Milao, Tera Chehra and Teri Kasam, Adnan Sami is all set to return with his new album Kisi Din, releasing in a few days time.

The album will arrive in true Adnan Sami style. With his previous videos featuring the likes of Rani Mukherjee, Mahima Choudhry, Amisha Patel etc, you can expect nothing less this time around. You can look forward to lavish videos featuring a whole new set of desi beauty queens dancing away to exquisite music composed solely by Adnan Sami himself.

All eyes and ears on Kisi Din...
