Don v Jaan-e-Mann: The Verdict!

Don dominates Jaan-e-Mann

Jaan-e-Mann - I underestimated the outcome of Jaan-e-Mann, it has not done too bad at the box office, and after watching the movie last night, i understand why. Jaan-e-Mann was a very decent movie, one could describe it as pure unadulterated entertainment; something that is seen very rare in Bollywood these days. It had it's fair share of laughs, but what stood out the most was the smooth drift from a comical first half to an emotional ride in the second half of the movie. The movie belonged to the men, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar; they stole the limelight with their excellent performances, and the cinematography was beautiful. The movie had a unique theatrical style narrative, the story was told well and the music did 100% justice to the script. Verdict: Hit

Itni achi baatein, aur phir bhi second place lay rahi hai Jaan-e-Mann? Magar kyun??? The answer is Shahrukh Khan a.k.a. Don!

Don - Kahaan say shuroo karein aur kahaan par khatam karein? What an awesome movie it was. The story, the screenplay, the dialogues, everything about it was amazing. Shahrukh delivered an awesome performance. Many would look back and compare it with the performance of Amitabh in the old Don. However, i feel comparing performances would be totally unfair, because the modern Don has a completely different outlook, the story also has some unexpected twists, which leave the viewer stunned. The new Don is not the same, the impact it leaves is not the same - it is stronger/better in my opinion. The only area where Amitabh wins over Shahrukh is in his portrayal of the 'khaike paan banaras wala' song. The new Don scores full marks on 'slickness', gloss, performances and music/background score; the only downside one may see is the length. For an action/thriller one would expect it to fall short of the 3 hour mark, but no, this is Bollywood! Verdict: Blockbuster!

Take a look at the box office report below...

"Mujhko pehchaan lo, main hoon DON"
We're just weeks away from witnessing another Shahrukh blockbuster. How can i say it's going to be a blockbuster before its release? Well, the name 'Shahrukh Khan' spells success, and we all know that aside from the foolish director of Jaanemann who has gone ahead and decided to release Jaanemann on the same day as DON! Loll
Do i smell competition? Errrr, no, i smell bullshit. Salman & Akshay versus Shahrukh? You must be joking! Shahrukh on his own is going to wipe them aside so badly, the fans of salman and akshay are going to be left dazzled. Sorry Zak. (",) Shahrukh has tooo much fan power, and nobody can deny that. Apparently, it was quoted in the Guardian newspaper that Shahrukh is the biggest star in the world, in terms of fan following.
Moving onto the movie itself, DON! What a movie it promises to be! The trailers are being aired continuously on the asian channels, the hype around this movie is simply incredible.
From the first look poster of the movie some months back (see previous blog articles), to today, DON has come a long long way. We have witnessed one of the sexiest music videos of the year, with "Yeh Mera Dil", where Kareena is seducing Shahrukh in a hott setting. The cinematogrpahy seems spot on from the trailers, or are the trailers just very well made? Only time will tell.
The latest trailer being aired is the much awaited "Khai ke paan banaaras wala", which has all the ingredients to be another comical chartbuster. With the remake of the song, we can officially declare that Udit is back and that 'paan' is the desert of the season this Eid/Diwali (",)
Cmon' you Donmaniacs, don't let this Eid/Diwali pass by in misery. We all want a laugh, we all want to enjoy ourselves, and i am telling you now, there is no better form of entertainment hitting the big screen this Eid/Diwali other than Shahrukh's DON.
Watch it on the big screen!
You're going to be in for a thunderous ride!
Enjoy! (",)
