Salman Khan's portions of the movie are what you would expect from Salman. His character is like that in Baghban, but a little extended. Not much to criticise there, he does his job well. As for the other dude, John Abraham - what a disaster. What was he doing in the movie? He needs to be sent back to boarding school for a few lessons on acting. His performance was by far the worst performance in the movie; even Hema Malini improved on her acting in comparison to Baghban, where she didn't do much aside from act as a pretty face for Amitabh.

It is the Black duo that dominate the movie. Amitabh Bachchan is amazing as the father in law, especially in the scene where he is looking at the sky from his balcony and expressing his feelings... (in the picture below).

Rani proves after SLB's Black, that she is far ahead of her contemporaries. She is without doubt the numero uno actress at the moment in Bollywood. If it wasn't for the performances of Amitabh and Rani Mukherjee, there would be no feeling of emotion in the movie. Baabul would have been a body minus soul, but thanks to the potentially award winning performances by Amitabh and Rani, the movie will/and is working at the box office.
